Rock-Ola Lubrication Chart

by DoghouseRiley » Thu Jul 02, 2009 1:46 pm

Unfortunately, my source has been unable to locate this. He seems to think it went out with a jukebox and there is no copy in any manuals he's searched. But if he comes across one he'll send me a copy.

So I'm back to square one.
As a complete novice, I'm OK with using oil on the gears and and the gripper arm unit, but I'm wary of the large spindle which supports the carousel and passes through the selector plate, because of the many electrical contacts in close proximity. Being unaware of many of the technical terms, adds to my confusion.

Also, how do you clean the pins, do you use a soft brush or what?
Any oil would likely find its way onto the electrical tracks and I've been warned off WD40.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

I have got a manual for my machine, but it only covers adjustments.

Easy, just oil the "brass" (colored) bearings on the main shaft--oil the "gripper" at every place that it moves--down below, in between the gears, and in the two "sections" of the spring loaded gripper itself. Oil DC motor shafts at all the brass gears, and look for a hole in the "upper" part of the gripper motor -- SOME motors have a felt wick here, some do not----no "basket" motor will not have the hole, unless someone's changed it. The AC WI motor will have oil felts on both sides of the armature that should be filled, and any open gear/shaft should get a drop of oil. The TT motor may have an oil tube going to the bottom bearing, or it may not. If no tube, the motor must be removed or you must figure a way to "shoot" oil up into the felt. You may also have an oil tube going to the top bearing--if so, fill it, if not, you can see the oil holes around the shaft--fill the felt. Oil the idler wheel, and speed change ( if equipped) lightly--you do not want oil on the rubber. TT shaft, oil it as you replace it into hole---
If you use a SAE 20 wt ND oil, it will be no problem electrically, in most cases-- Ron Rich

I've found the lubrication chart, actually it's for an earlier model, but I guess the mechanics are the same.I t was among the manuals for which Vidkiller supplied the link to his site. So thanks for that.

Interesting--I feel that the chart is lacking quite a lot--I tend to get many more places to oil then what is shown there, and I tend to dis-like the use of "Aereo Lubriplate" at all--- Ron Rich
