Seeburg SS 160 record won't load

by BillH » Mon Dec 05, 2011 1:17 am

Hello, i recently came into a Seeburg ss 160, which seems to want to work, however when you make a selection, the "carriage?" i guess. will go where it needs to go, and attempt to load a record but than the spindle or turntable will close before the record is in place. it will than continue to spin like it is playing the record. if i interrupt the loading and hold turntable open and slip the record in place manually, it works and sound great. i have only had the jukebox for 2 days. i am in process of ordering manuals i have found online. thought someone here might have an idea for me.

Thanks, Bill

Bill,
My first bit of advice is NOT to purchase manuals "on line"--they are generally poor and/or incomplete. I would suggest that you should order a "manual package" from one of the places as shown above in the "announcements" section
Second, I would suggest a copy of my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" should be of assistance--least I hope it would ! See same section for that--
Your current problem is, a lack of proper lubrication, problem. I describe how to correct this, at length, in my guide.

Thank you, i was hoping it was something fairly simple to get started.
That is what i am planning on ordering, i saw a console combo deal for 2 books, one of them being yours.
Thanks

Bill

Bill,
The only one that I know of that offered "combo" deals was my late, great friend, Tony Miller. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years ago, and his wife refuses to sell his stuff, except to the "wholesalers"- You can order my book from the list above, or directly from me--I would suggest that you need the "manual package" for the SS160 model. This consists of the "Information and Operation" manual, Service Manual, and Parts Manual--
If someone else is offering my books in a "combo package", please let me know--
