Seeburg "select" bulbs

by mb9513 » Sat Jan 23, 2016 8:22 am

Hi all: the part list for the 100J calls for #47 bulbs behind the "select" glass. I got new ones and one failed within a few seconds, tried another same thing. I checked the voltage to the sockets and it was 26V. that is what I found coming from the credit unit, going through the bulbs in series and a 100 ohm resistor. resistor is 106 ohm. #47 is a 6.3v bulb. putting 2 in series gives a 12.6 rating. how is that going to work with 26V. did #47 bulbs change? or what else should I check? Thanks in advance. Mark

Sounds like you've got defective or mis-labeled lamps.
According to your readings, a series pair of #47's or #1847's should work fine.
Are they marked #47 on the lamp bases?
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Mark,
Either you have "defective lamps", or, a shorted socket, or, "some jackass" has re wired the sockets--those lamps were wired in series in all early Seeburg 100's. "One" should not burn out and leave the other working ? Ron Rich
