Rob: I'll check that out this afternoon. After discussing this with electricians here at work, I've been assured it's not likely to be the motor so I plan on taking a look as you've suggested and probably pulling several turntables and measuring spindle and idler wheel diameters to see how this one compares. I've got the speed change mechanism well oiled and it operated smoothly. As-found, this probably had not shifted in a very long time and was gummed up badly. I may go ahead and change the motor grommets while I'm looking at it just in case. As for what other machines don't appear to run fast, they're all Rockolas: 494, 463, 2 474s, 459, 3 496s, 460, and 2 490s. If they're all a bit fast, I've likely become accustomed to it. I rarely play 45s on a "regular" turntable. Where's the fun in that? But this one stands out as definitely too fast.
