I found a RCA Vicrtolia in the local junk & antique shop. It seems to run okay but is missing the neadle. They want $75 for it. I almost bought it but didn't since I don't know where to get a neadle. Is $75 a fir price? Where can I get a neadle?

Hi. The value of any phonograph is determined by 2 things mainly, and that is model & condition.
Phonographs can vary largely in value, from $10 to $10,000 & more. Until we know what model the RCA is, I don't think anyone can really advise if $75 is a fair price or about the needle.

Hi,

Yes, you need to find out what kind of needle it uses, some needles could be $75.00, or less and even more. However, if it is a straight steel needle, then $75.00 would probably unreasonable, steel needles would run about $3.00 to maybe $6.00 a packet of at least 50 or 100. The steel needles which were used in most early spring powered victrola's were only intended to play one record and then change the needle for each play.

If the machine is electric then it may require a different type of needle, in which case you must supply the model number.

Best of Luck.

Too late. Another dealer bought it and now it is for sale in his antique store for $450. I can't afford that.
