Seeburg V200 Title drum letters/numbers

by PTL8GRANDKIDS » Sun Nov 09, 2014 2:28 am

Hi People, Here's one for ya, the Drum letters/numbers next to the title strips A8-K8 and A0-K0 are not lit up. All others are lit I assume by the by the fluorescence light, what's with these?. Your thoughts please, Preston Syracuse NY..

Darrell,
How can this beeeee ?? Lamp inside the drum is long enough, unless one of Rob's friends, somehow "Jepettoed" it ??
Look for a piece of cardboard?, or something jammed down there ?? Ron Rich

Ron, Preston, the tube is a 24" 20watt and is just long enough to light the entire drum. However as the tube ages the ends blacken due to carbon from the cathodes which reduces the length of the lighted area. That combined with yellowing and dirt on the letter-number strips causes them to appear darker.
On my location machines, I just ignore it. Replacement strips may still be available from Victory Glass or others.

Rob (former Gepetto associate).

PS: When my current stock of 24" tubes is depleted I intend to convert that position to use LED subs.

Hi Darrell,
OK--Now I understand what you are saying !! The "selection number strips" are no longer passing enough light --If only you had used the terms used in the manual--
I did need to replace some of them many years ago--seems to me that they just "slide in" ? I doubt you'll have any problem figuring it out, once you have purchased a new set--Ron Rich

Hi Ron , this is Preston. You are right, I should have given everyone a better description of the part. Victory glass list the part as the Drum Roll letter/number inserts. However I don't see how to replace them. How do I get to these suckers. Preston-- Syracuse NY

Hi Preston (sorry 'bout that !)
I honestly do not remember--seems as if they slide out ?--you know how to separate the drum segments don't you ?
If not--see the I and O manual-- Ron Rich

The strips slide out the same as titles and categories. It can be a pain because they are thin and long.

Preston, they just slide out of the area of the drum nearest to them. that is sometimes easier said than done as the plastic sort of welds itself after many years.

Here is a pick of the strip repros: http://www.jukeboxparts.nl/en/categorie/6/V-VL/2.html

They come out wide-side-out so you have to inch them along. As i mentioned, it can be a pita.

Hi Rob,Rich I removed the title strips and observed a number of small screws that hold the plastic drum roll together. I think if I remove the screws, I should be able to remove the inserts. Looks like a time consuming project. Thanks again for the help. Preston--

Preston,
I don't recall removing any screws ?? Did you purchase a replacement set of these yet ?
If not, and you are going to do so from VG, ask, and I'm sure Denny will know--

Hi Ron, I don't see any other way of sliding those inserts out. I wish it was as easy as the song title's, but appears not to be. I haven't ordered yet. Preston---
