In your opinion how do the motor run metal can and the motor rub film capacitors compare for reliability?

Ron, I dunno about you, but sometimes I look down in the bowl as I turn to flush the thing down.

That old John Crapper rumor is plain bullcrap.
Just another old rumor that someone dreamed up way back, like not "stacking" records because it might damage them.
Ya can't believe everything ya hear out there.

I never heard a rumor--
In the 1960's I worked in a very old building--had probably one of the first flush toilets installed, in this area. On it was the makers name "John Crap" (or possibly "Crape", or "Crapper"--don't remember any more)-- The old guy that owned the building told me that was the reason for the nick names-- Ron Rich

Thomas Crapper (baptised 28 September 1836; died 27 January 1910) was a plumber who founded Thomas Crapper & Co in London. Contrary to widespread misconceptions, Crapper did not invent the flush toilet. He did, however, do much to increase the popularity of the toilet, and developed some important related inventions, such as the ballcock. He was noted for the quality of his products and received several royal warrants.

The flushing toilet was invented by John Harrington in 1596. Joseph Bramah of Yorkshire patented the first practical water closet in England in 1778. George Jennings in 1852 also took out a patent for the flush-out toilet.

Crapper held nine patents, three of them for water closet improvements such as the floating ballcock, but none was for the flush toilet itself.
