Seeburg jukebox troubles

Hi Rob, Ron,

I already have a service manual, but there is no Troubleshooting part..

Where can I see what type of jukebox I actually have? I thought it was a SS160 because somebody told me, but I'd rather see it on the machine to know it for sure. I've seen a lot of codes and serial numbers on it but I don't know which code represents the type.

Isn't it possible that this is just a small error? Because it worked when I de-assembled my machine... I will de-assemble it again, clean some contacts and lubricate the whole clutch, maybe this will do? Otherwise I'm willing to purchase a Troubleshooting guide in order to fix the problem.

Gill,
There should be an ID tag on the outside, rear of the phono. If not, look in the upper portion of the jukebox section, here, and find the late, Tony Millers web site--he has photos of all Seeburgs posted there.
If you had the clutch loose (two bottom screws out) it is possible to have installed it in such a manor as to prevent selecting--

Hello guys!

I just found out that the type of my jukebox is a Seeburg LPC480.

So, I still have the 'scans twice, doesn't play' problem. I will de-assemble my machine again and check if the mechanism (especially the clutch) is assembled in the right way. I will clean and lubricate everything that moves.

If I still have this problem, I will post a message here again and I will probably purchase the Troubleshooting guide to fix the problem.

Is there anything else I can do now?

BEFORE you take things apart do the "battery test".

take any good 1.5 volt battery (AA-C-D) place the minus against an exposed screw or other chassis metal (on the control unit) and tap each of the two RCA plugs that go into the pulse amps to the plus (+) terminal.

Place the RCA plugs back into the pulse amps and make a selection to get the machine scanning. It should immediately trip at the first record slot going left-to-right.

The idea of this test is to determine if the problem is in the readout which we are test here, or the write-in ckts.

You should also have a known good 12AX7 and at least one good 2050 tube.

I'm afraid that I don't understand much about what I have to do. My English isn't that good, and so is my knowledge of mechanics/ the machine..

What do you mean by the 'control unit' and the 'pulse amps'?

So I just need to put some cables out, hold them against a battery for a second, put them back and select a record?

And what do you mean by: 'trip at the first record slot going left-to-right'?
I also have no idea what 12AX7 and 2050 tube and the readout or the write-in ckts is...

I'm sorry if i'm bothering you with my 'stupid' questions, but as I said, I'm a real amateur.

Your English is fine--You are just not familiar enough with the terms used about this phonograph
If you want to do this yourself, you, like everyone else must learn what the phonograph SHOULD do/ when, and how to ID parts. The only way I know to do this is to purchase the Service Manual "PACKAGE" from one of the legitimate sellers listed above, and read it. IMHO, my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", should also be of help (PM me to purchase it directly).
If for some reason you are un-able, or un-willing to do the above, my advise would be to call a pro, BEFORE, you cause any damage-- Ron Rich

I first want to be sure that it's a serious problem, because when I de-assembled the machine it did play records, so maybe it's just some small issue on lubrication or dirty contacts.

I will take my time to check if I can do something on my own, if it doesn't work I will purchase your guide (based on the reactions I saw on the internet it's the best).

I will send you a PM for that.
