Rockola 484 - Won't switch on

Hi, I have just gone to switch on my jukebox and nothing has come on - no lights, nothing. there is a slight small of burning and i wonder if a fuse/fuses have blown. I am ignorant when it comes to electrical items but could anyone give me a clue as to what it may be?

Sorry to tell you this, but if you have "smelled burning", you should get someone who knows something about electrical items (jukeboxes in this case) to look at it, before you replace any fuse. A fuse will NOT smell, when blown ! Something caused that fuse to blow, and hopefully that item can be found first, and be repaired, before any fuses are replaced (with ONLY the correct size !). Replacing the fuse without finding the bad part(s) first, can, and often does add more problems. Ron Rich

Ron Rich is ALWAYS one of the BEST! for many years in this "hobby".....BUT! I do take exception.... NOTHING ELECTRICAL CAN SMELL!... it doesn't have a NOSE!....but, an electrical problem can STINK!... GotCha Ron! The "smell test" is something I use in my regular business of switchgear troubleshooting. .. ( non-juke) Depending upon the "service guy ( person)"... I most always use a Circuit Breaker in-line with the fuse connections. This , usually "smokes" out a problem without blowing expensive fuses or damaging electrical components. An overheated I.C. , ( by finger touch), or a power supply problem .. USUALLY.. is detected by a "temporarily " installed Circuit Breaker... of the right value.. of course. "Quick-Fix" jukebox affectionados (sic) remain a problem.. because they always want "FAST, ACCURATE RESULTS".. as do most of us in life when trying to solve a problem...especially one that is non-reoccuring" (sic)... " get it DONE.. and let me go on with my life"..Folks...some things take your time.. others take your money for "other's" people's time..(is that making sense?).... dudge.

You're a "trip" Rich...read you on many pages over the years including Always' Jukin. Glad to hear you're still "up to it"....and with a sense a' humor. I'm up too late now to be sensible....if ever at all. I'm still getting requests to do "old boxes".. although I don't advertise. I do it as a hobby. It's always "word-of-mouth" for me. I know a lot have this making a living. I think you do also... for your years in the trade. US ( If I may) "juke geeks" have a lot of experience working on many "boxes"...besides other "coin-op" machines. What troubles me most is NOT that some don't understand Ohm's Law....it's that they get involved with voltages that can KILL. It's like working with poisonious snakes....if you're educated about what you do....your chances of survival are best. Your looking for "wurly" decals? I don't think anyone will reproduce them for later years...not much of a "call". I'm sure you know of Steve Loots, et al. These things , usually, were made from "printed" strips of fabric adhesive tape. Some were produced as mylar adhesive as the demand warranted it. As you probably know, if the demand doesn't warrant it.. nobody will "tool up" to offer it for sale. Maybe someone has a "program" to reproduce the numbers / letters on strips of adhesive tape or other. That's a hint that you can make your own. Talk to you later. Dudge.

Hi 484 lovers.
My unit plays the selected record but does not switch tu put it back into the drum. I already changed the "power board" and switched the relays from the old card to the new one and vice versa.
At the end of the record cut-off groove nothing happens until I activate the manual Scan switch or push on the red (Clear) button on the “logic board”
The arm switch is OK and closes but no signal is transmitted to the “reverse relay”. I do not know the right position of the “latching relay” at that moment.
As one can see, I do have the “service manual” but cannot find the wrong part or contact.
Any suggestion?
