1895 Edison gramophone question

by Richard Sibello » Wed Jun 21, 2006 4:15 pm

Hi!
My brother-in-law just acquired an 1895 Edison Standard Model A gramophone. It's the "suitcase" model with the flat top instead of the rounded top and has the clips on the sides of the box instead of the front. This model only plays 2 minute cylinders. My brother-in-law wants to restore the machine to original specs (it has a C reproducer on it). Is there a good website or does anyone have any info on this particular gramophone? I've done some web searching and came up with some pictures, but no specs or info on original equipment. Help!!

Hi, a book which valuable info is "The edison Cylinder Phonograph 1877-1929" by george Frow.It describes in detail all edison phonographs, also the one you have, with a parts list.
