Hi Julie, the distance from the T-T to the stripper plate is specified in the service manual They are on Pg. 58 fig. 25. The dual speed mech's are a bit more critical than the older 45-only ones in that the pilot is shallower and flat because it acts as part of the turntable when a small hole record is clamped. The distance from the plastic bearings to the pilot is said to be approx ¼ in.
Does the stripper plate look like it has been bent outward? If not, it probably isn't the cause of the problem. If it is outside the spec and simple pressure doesn't bend it back it the mech has to come out and the top arch be removed.

From memory, I remember telling myself I thought the upper part of the front guide was bent forward, like in an angle.. I will measure it tonight....When you say:'' simple pressure doesn't bend it back it the mech has to come out and the top arch be removed.'' It is certainly not refering to simply removing the upper plastic part of the Record guide and trying to adjust right?? Should I start crying now?

Take a look at the operation of the record stripper arm (Pg 59 Fig 26 item

and see if it is timing properly. Try keeping it away during clamping.
You are in the right area.
--------------- Ok I will !
And do you know where I can get replacement springs? The online merchants all respond that they do not have this part... DO you have a place to refer?
Many thanks!
Julie
