Seeburg Amp Fuse

by juke46 » Wed Apr 01, 2015 2:05 pm

The Seeburg "V" restoration is underway. I have been cleaning/removing everything and making a list for parts. While cleaning about the dirtiest amp I have ever owned I noticed the fuse and cap were missing. Sure enough there was one strand of small gauge copper wire going around it. I suppose it would act as a fuse, maybe. First one of those I've actually seen but I've heard about that before. Seems like a risky way and a lot of work to avoid buying a fuse. All the capacitors have been changed except for five of them. A number of the resistors have one lead cut and then spliced together for testing, I suppose. I think at that point I would have just replaced them. Several came apart with just a little wiggle.

Sounds like a Butcher-Job amp.
Better get it properly serviced, or else.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.
