Hi Again,
According to Brian Rust, this brilliant entertainer recorded one master each for sides 1 & 2 on December 30, 1931: OY-2542-1 & 2543-1. They were never issued. I have his versions done for English Decca ('34) and USA Decca ('41) & wonder if the 1931 versions survive. If any of you love trains & haven't yet heard these tour de force performances, then you'd have a very enjoyable listening experience. Editorially, the 1934 rendition is European oriented. I know of at least two releases, both 10" & two sided: UK Decca F-5278 & USA Liberty Music Shops. 1004. The 1941 rendition is on USA Decca set DA 215 (two 10")(typical hideously noisy USA Decca pressings) and DU 915 (two sided 12"). Its topical references pertain to the USA The latter was issued in vinyl with the dubbing a surface quality SUPERB. In addition to his uncanny vocal impressions of trains, the '41 version includes as a prelude, comparable impressions of wallpaper!
