Wurlitzer Statesman 3400 (carriage won't stop spinning)

by drhensjog » Tue Jun 09, 2015 6:10 pm

Greetings!

I’ve had the good fortune of acquiring a Wurlitzer Statesman 3400 that, of course, was working beautifully in the basement utility room of its previous owner. Making a new home for it in my garage bar, it suddenly is a bit wonky.

When I set the unit to the “run” position, the carriage does nothing but spin around. The carriage will stop when I turn the switch to the “load” position. I just watched this glorious machine in action with my own two eyes this past Wednesday!

I do have the Operator’s Manual, but I will admit I have been thrown into the fire of jukebox ownership on a deal that was too good to pass up. I have no clue about the inner workings of these machines and worry my bumbling and vintage electronics don’t mix.

If I had to guess what the problem is, the Magazine Lock Switch is the culprit.

Any help and/or advice is greatly appreciated!

-Josh

Hi Josh,
Did you properly "tie the mechanism down" for transportation, prior to moving it ?
I am --ASSUMING--- it will stop and play a selection, if made ?
My guess would not be the lock switch, but the over-ride switch, which is located on top of the mechanism shelf in the rear, RH corner of the record container. Ron Rich

Thanks for the reply, Ron.
I did have the machine secured well during transit, but that was my first thought. I'll check the areas you suggested later this evening with the Operator's Manual in hand. I've spent the past two nights basking in its non-functioning glory and can't imagine what it will be like when it works!
