Rockola 437 won't reset

by Rattlebranch » Tue May 26, 2015 6:59 pm

Hello- Restoring a Rockola 437. I was having problems with the write-in selection: arm engaged, hammer coils all worked, but was selecting wrong or multiple selections, or not at all. Adjusted the arm and the problem is fixed. However, when a record is replaced into the basket, and no other song has been selected, the basket continues to turn (i.e. doesn't reset). Read-out works perfectly.

Any ideas?

Thx, Rattlebranch

Hi
It may be a problem with the wobble plate solenoid
Check the switch on micro switch beside to make sure it is releasing and check wiring at the solenoid.
If the connections are great it will result in this

Thanks Clones!

Wiring is all good. Are you referring to the micro switch on the wobble plate, or the A side B side switch?

It is set to "Free Play" as a result of previous owner bending one of the teeth in the accumulator. Could this have something to do with it?

Yes--he is referring to the motor start/run, MicroSwitch located on the pin-bank top--
No-- Pricing unit is a separate function.

Hi
As soon as a selection lever is put into the play position the wobble plate activates the microswitch which operates the play control relay. Maybe there is a lever that isn't being picked up by the read out arm and resulting in the mechanism not stopping due to dirty slip rings. Check the levers and the wobble plate micro swich. The microswitch may be faulty but its rare. Even when machine is off you should be able to see the movement of the wobble plate against the switch when you move a selection lever into play position

Clones and Rich-

Many thanks! Removed the microswitch and the hammer coil, cleaned all connections including wires, and remounted all. Machine is working perfectly.

Much appreciated!
