Sears Silvertone Medalist Model 8249

I recently acquired a Sears Silvertone Medalist model 8249 in Walnut. The chassis number on the amp is 528-59070. It has a 100 watt amp, radio, turntable, and seperate speaker cabinet. The speakers work great and I find the whole setup to be quite interesting. However I can't find much info on this model. All I could find on the internet is that Sears and Silvertone parted ways in 72'. This excited me at first because I got the system for free from an older neighbor and this info made the restoration more worthwhile. I don't know much about vintage stereos but do have some background in car and home audio. I would especially like to figure out the age of this jem but any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

According to SAMS data your set dates to 1957. It may have came out in 1956. It's not a hundred watt amplifier. That's the total watts being consumed by the set. With the pair of 6V6 output tubes it puts out maybe 5 to 7 undistorted watts. It should produce some decent sound.

If it's truly from 1957, it's very unlikely that it is stereo. Only experimental stereo tape and experimental stereo broadcasts on two stations were available in 1957.

That's true. It's not stereo. I didn't pay any attention to that.
