Rowe 100b

by ds100h » Fri Jul 19, 2013 9:44 pm

Recently obtained a Rowe 100b CD jukebox. It has a Hansen motor that operates the disk animation and another Hansen motor that operates the color light. I contacted Hansen motors and this is their reply:

"Good afternoon Darrell,

Thank you for contacting Hansen Corporation. We will be quoting these in house. Below is the break down. Before an order can be placed, we will need to setup your company in our system. At that time, I will contact you.
Thanks,
~Jenn

PN: 59004-41758
Cost: $200/ea + Shipping
Ship: UPS Ground Prepaid
Terms: Cash With Order
Ship 4-6 weeks ARO + 1 week for new customer setup "

At these prices I understand why Rowe went out of business!

I am wondering if anyone has a source for these typr of motors or motors that can be used as replacements?
The ID numbers are:

640 110V 60HZ 5W 10RPM AI1540RC-5- (four dots forming a square box) 9134
640 110V 60HZ 5W 10RPM AL540RC-5-6 9134

I understand why the route operators did not replace thes motors when they wore out!

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Best
Darrell

Darrell,
Rowe, out of business ?? Not as far as I know--They were purchased a number of years ago, but still use that name ? Did you try to order them thru an authorized Rowe distributor ?
I quit using those motors, when they got "noisy"--which was about 6 months after first use--unless oiled--in which case they would run a few years--Ron Rich

Ron

The original company is gone and as you stated they were bought out by another company. It is my understanding it is the same company that also owns Rock ola. I will try to contact them Monday, as their tech people only wor Mon thru Wed.

What motors did you switch to and wouldbyounhave any replacement motors available? The proper shaft is very important. If you have some I will PM you about them

Rowe bought Rock-ola several years ago. Then Rowe/Rock-ola merged with Merit and are now known as AMI Entertainment. They have set up seperate websites for their different divisions. Here is the jukebox division's website:

http://www.amientertainment.com/

Here is a link to buy the genuine Rowe animation motor (40824302) for the spinning CD display:

http://na.suzohapp.com/all_catalogs/juk ... t/40824302

The genuine motor is only $49 at Happ Controls.

Alot cheaper at Betson:

Darrell,
Nope--they did not "buy out" RockOla. They purchased only the RockOla name, and the rights to that name, for production of downloaders. Calling them on a Rowe CD100B is a waste of time. The RockOla name was purchased from Mr. Rockola just prior to his demise, by Antique Apperatus Co, and they still use it for "home units".
I still suggest that you check with the nearest authorized Rowe Distb. for parts for the "B". Ron Rich

They probably mean this Rowe parts distributor:

The other issue we are having with this juke, is the lighting on the lower cabinet. The B model has what looks like waves that are supposed to light up. We have the service manual but there is nothing in it about this part. I need a schematic or wiring diagram of it. It would seem to be a simple sieries or parallel circuit, but no such luck. I suspect it is way more complicated than that. there are numerous jumper wires that run between the light sections and they are not exposed at all. I am trying to avoid taking apart the whole front panel to get at them. Thanks

Most likely it has 2 #73 lamps in series then paralleled with the others powered from the 28 volt circuit. For parts, you might try Pascaretti's, in Grand Rapids @ 616-452-2125.

Probably all the bulbs are burned out and/or the plastic sockets are bad.

Yes, these are wired series/parallel.

Darrell,
These were a "problem area". Best solution I have found is to replace ALL lamps, and holders, with the "new-improved" style holder, at the same time. Usually, there is no need to dis-assemble the door section, on these, but sometimes you "just gotta"--to clean the lamp socket contacts. Ron Rich

Ken
For your info I checked this out: :
Alot cheaper at Betson:

http://www.betson.com/products/amusemen ... 0-40824302"

They do not stock them and they are $50.00 not $29.00 as advertised and they only have the AMI motors.

Darrell,
Didja oil them prior to installing them ? If so, they will run much longer--if not, IMHO, you should do so, and do so every year or so--20wt. ND, has kept them running for me, for ten-twelve years--just a drop or two, where the shaft exits the bearing-- Ron Rich
