You must have a storage area bigger than your garden jukebox retreat for all of those Vac's.
We have two the normal upright and a wet & dry no doubt on loan by my son. I would never buy a Dyson on principle after his workforce is now abroad.

Hi Alan,
Yes, I thought it was a bit of a cheek after bragging so long about being "British" that Dyson then upped sticks and went to the Philippines at a moment's notice.
However, I don't choose the vacs, I just pay for them.
The reason for so many in the house is that with her MS, there's no way my wife can carry one upstairs, so an upright has to be upstairs as well as downstairs, (she likes to do the vacuuming when I'm out of the house on the golf course). The little Oreck cylinder is ideal for the stairs as it's very light. I'd do the vacuum for her, but she thinks I wouldn't do it as well as she can. I'm not going to argue about that.

Indeed, it's good to have a selection of vacuums around the house.
I keep the Eureka Boss upstairs for the carpeting.
The Commercial upright downstairs.
A shop vac out in the garage.
A canister Eureka MityMite for the stairs.
And finally a handheld Turbo Tiger for the office and small jobs.

Well, I see it sold for $305.00, which seems like a fair price.
I wouldn't mind having one, but the only place I could store it in my small apartment is the hallway closet and I already have about 800 78s in there, plus my new Royal.

Kirby a couple of decades ago had limited success in this country. All down to hard door-step selling. Our next door neighbour bought one, I can't believe how much he paid for it.
If only people would change the bag, filters, roller, or brushes, more frequently, then they wouldn't need to keep buying them...but my wife takes no notice.

I'm afraid I don't know what that means.... I'm not up on popular expressions or personalities. (I stopped paying attention to popular culture in the late 1970s.)

They're still sold via home demonstrations-- http://www.kirby.com/how-to-buy/still-door-to-door/ --and the final price paid depends on the buyer's negotiation skills, and the sellers willingness to negotiate. The latest models have a MFG's suggested retail price of $2,700.00 for the whole shebang--the vacuum cleaner and all accessories--but I've read on one forum where a buyer recently brought the salesman down to $975.00. (One wonders what the actual wholesale cost is!)
I don't know about the Kirby's they make today, but the ones from a few decades+++ ago were literally built to last FOREVER, given proper maintenance, as were/are Royal vacuum cleaners. My Grandmother's circa 1949 Kirby went to one of my cousins when she passed away back in 1997 at age 91. The last I heard, my cousin still uses it.
I've looked at the latest Kirby model, the Sentria II -- http://www.kirby.com/our-cleaning-syste ... ia-system/ -- but don't like the style. I much prefer the Art Deco styling of the "Classic" series, which emulated, and in some way, improved upon the style of the 1935 models.
As for basic maintenance, I've seen quiet a number of cheap, all plastic vacuum cleaners on street corners that look to be in perfect condition and relatively new, and have wondered how many only needed a new belt, or a bag emptying.

Now it makes sense. But, no, it looks like the seller replaced everything BUT the motor, so you're still stuck with 3 amps. (Not that that would be an issue for me, since I'd never dare run it on the carpet for fear of getting the brand new wheels and roller brush dusty!)

This reminds me.
Our son has a 1967 LHD split-screen VW campervan which he imported from Utah and returned to its original condition, (except fot the cream leather upholstery with memory foam interiors, TV and Pioneer stereo system, he and his partner are away in it most week-ends in the summer, on leisurely trips to camping sites, (she made the curtains) It's an ideal situation, as although some of her money went into it she can't drive it as her feet won't reach the pedals!
Anyway, on a trip down to Cornwall they met this other couple with a blue "splitty" of the same age in a services car-park..
Though this one had lowered suspension, wide alloy wheels, low profile tyres, disc brakes and a Porsche engine!

Both look great--
How tall is you son's partner ?? My brother had one of those and his then wife was just 5 ft tall, and she drove it all over the place--she did have trouble making it "go fast", as her foot would not push the throttle to the floor. I built a "enlargement" for her--- Ron Rich

Hi Ron she's about five foot, a lovely girl, I say "girl" she was 46 (same age as him) when this was taken two years ago, she's a sister who trains new nurses at University College Hospital in Manchester.
I don't know why she can't reach the pedals, as she drives her own little Vauxhall, maybe as he's six feet tall he deliberately welded the driving seat too far back for her!
Note the handy bottle-opener on the pillar just above her left shoulder.
