had problems with RT sol being stuck. cleaned and smoothed inside . now selector pin assembly works well but record holder motor does not run. putting service switch in either position has no effect. checked play switch, seems good. any suggestions ?

Going from memory--what happens if 1. you have a pin released, and 2. You press the record reject switch on the amplifier--?
I assume you have checked for a blown fuse ??

selector pin releases on all selections correctly. no record magazine movement, no voltage to motor (25vac). record reject has no effect, service switch has no effect, bar on front of machine positioned to left, but rt or left has no effect.

all fuses check good, record lift arms are either up or down depending on position of record mag. play motor runs continuously.

If the T-T is turning that means that there is LVAC to the play control relay. If there is no voltage to the changer motor -put the tonearm all the way to the trip-off position. Then "jog" the two over-center switches at the rear of the mech next to the changer motor. Look at both of those switches and be sure that the spring on the paddle is present. Poor contact here or missing spring can cause things to stop dead in either play or scan mode.

Turn the knob on bottom of the changer motor in a direction that causes the steel cable to start pulling down and thus retract the turntable pilot. At some point while you are turning the knob the transfer switch should flip and the mech should take off and finish on it's own.

On these later models I believe the changer motor direction is controlled by a relay, so pitted contacts there are possible.

lift arms do not move , left hand paddle switch will stop play motor but following the directions given does not cause motor to start,

apparently the ry 5, over travel relay?, is not energizing, or bad. will check 28vdc and coil. also told by another tech to bypass load switch in front of machine for simplicity as it does cause problems.

IMHO, I would NOT bi-pass the record load switch ! It was installed for a good reason !
It can be easily replaced. Ron Rich

Hi James,
I'm not quite sure of what you are saying--I am ASSUMING--
You can get the pin to release, at this point, the "over-ride" switch(es) start the basket motor ( thru a relay-- I think--consult the Service Manual). Ron Rich

James,
What does "engages" mean ?? Are the contacts "making"--how have you determined this ?

ry6 does not energize, if i manually close it the main shaft does cycle. record magazine does not move nor does the pin detector, loading arms go up, down, pin detectors move up and down but do not rotate with main shaft. seem to be missing start of cycle, i can not find the start switch on the 2810. book is fuzzy to me. slowly loosing my hair on this one...

Hi James,
Are you saying that the carrousel, spins independently of the crank-arm ?
How are you getting the lift arms to move ?
