Magnavox Micromatic Stereophonic Needle

by Alex » Sun Jan 07, 2007 7:11 am

I just fixed my subject turntable unit, and am now in search of a new needle. It's one of those 'flip' types with 78 RPM on one side and LP on the other. Pertinent details of the Magnavox:

Model 1ST611R
Serial 1427227
150 Watts
Run Number 3
Finish SWAL

Does anyone have a needle or two to sell? If not, do you know of anywhere that I may find one?

Sometimes you can order them through radio shack. You can definately find one on the internet, if you do a google search. If you know the model number, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, you might be able to find one on ebay. Have a good one

Astro-Sonic/Needles

by Bobby Basham » Tue Jan 16, 2007 7:34 pm

Check out my post from 03/07/2006. "Magnavox Astro-Sonic Needles $4.99/$5.99" from Radio Shack. That's not a bad price considering some other places are asking $20 apiece. All you need is the number from your cartridge and go from there.

I had originally posted it because people were joining and asking the same questions repeatedly regarding needles. Some of the other guys have contributed a wealth of info for these magnificant stereos.

I've got no more room now. My spare bedroom has 4 Astro-Sonics stacked on their sides and I have 5 others scattered throughout the house, plus a pair of those Octagon/chairside(?) stereos that are basically omni-directional. That doesn't include the Zenith, Motorola, Airline consoles stacked atop one another. I do have a newer 70's Magnavox that has those big bullet-shaped bass chambers. It's not an Astro-Sonic, but it still rocks...even has an 8-track player.

I forgot to mention another Astro-Sonic covered on the back porch which has a reel-to-reel recorder/player.

It's time for for a 12-Step program...LOL
