LPC plays A side when B side is requested

the issues are stacking up over here! one thing i haven't seen in the troubleshooting manual is:

when i select a "B-side" of a 45, it has been playing the A-side instead. at one point i had the RCA plugs to the pulse amps reversed, and it was giving me B-sides only. i swapped 'em and now get only A's... but never both. it used to play both until i pulled the mech last week for some close up work and put it back to discover this new anomaly among others

As a recovering LPC user I vote for broken wires on the plunger block under the Tormat...OR broken wire on the sensing loop at the RCA plug. Check for continuity on the RCA first.

Gotta dis-agree here--
Cat--
Pull on the two Tormat wires--the longer of the two goes to the pulse amp closest to you in the TCC. Mark it with a piece of tape--then determine which pulse amp is working by using only one plug at a time---
If both are working, try the other cord in them to be sure it is not a problem in the cord --
If both cords result in selections of the other sides, your problem is in the mechanism LSR.RSR, RR contacts--dirty, bent, or not adjusted as per specs, or my Seeburg Mechanism Guide "shortcut"-- Ron Rich

hey guys. just wanted to acknowledge your responses, and both seem logical to me. 'preciate it.

as a further possible diagnostic element, a simultaneous symptom is a repeated playing of any A side - returning the record and immediately loading it back for play. most often only interruptable by powering down. very occasionally it would scan properly on its own. but inevitably i'd have to turn off the machine to stop the repeated selection. also, an occasional but newfound instance of missing selections, seemingly in the higher numbers or letters. wish i could be more specific about that...

i would be eager to try your current (no pun intended) suggestions, but alas, i'm dead in the water on another issue on it (though not for lack of help... see my other post) ...blew the main fuse with no replacement at hand, and i've got ten days of work travel up ahead...

To determine what is causing the repeated replaying of the record, one first must understand the functions of that mechanism ( which is different from most others) then determine if it is a mechanical, or electrical problem. If you have a copy of my Seeburg Mechanism Guide, I explain this in detail there-- or you can "pick it out of" the books supplied with that phono. Ron Rich

indeed, while the troubleshooting aspect of the Seeburg manuals are great, i find vagueries in some aspects of the mech. and it's looking like i might just want to do a once-over on the mech due to various issues after having done the lubrication points. the thing is pretty dirty, too. I'll shoot ya a PM about your guide before i get home next week.
