rock ola max2 481 trouble shooting

I recently aquifer a rock old max2. I heard it play once before then it was stored well I plugged it in and the speakers just made this real loud humming sound and I don't know why can anyone help me. I turned down the volume but nothing happened still humming at the same level loud Please help

IF the volume control is turned down to the lowest level and the hum is still evident the chances are that something is wrong with the amp, also i would check the cartridge, and connections to the cartridge and from there to the amp which can also cause hum if faulty

The hum you are describing is indicative of either a shorted output transistor(s) or dried up electrolytic filter capacitors.

i lean toward the latter because shorted outputs -usually- blow fuses.

In either case, amp work is required.
