Power Transistor replacement Rock-Ola 436?

by Yuri » Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:48 pm

Hello!

My housemate inherited a 436 and my mates and I have managed to make it work again, trying to be as careful as we can with regards to original parts.

However, one side of the transistor power amplifier is bust, and not
only can I not find the transistor used - Delco 7305626 is written on
the can, the manual does not specify it any further - I can't even find
any information on that piece. I work for an engineering company and
trawled through tons of transistor equivalent lists, but... nothing.

If anyone can help us out with regards to specifications and possible replacements for that transistor, we would be very happy indeed!

Thanks!
Yuri

You might look for that model in Howard Sams Photofact. Google it.

I do believe it's an NPN silicon device-if the amp is what I think it is--you should have the power xformer in the upper right-hand corner-and two heat sinks running the depth of the chassis-yours was built in the late Sixties-please forgive the unscientific description....most likely it can be replaced with a 2N3055 or 2N3772-change BOTH transistors if in a p-p circuit.Another way to determine this is to pull one from the good channel-and ohm it out-PNPs will give readings w/the probes reversed from NPNs.Also,do check for damaged components-the output circuit's transformer-driven,so the fault should be confined to components connected to the secondaries.Good luck!

Yuri,
The guy to contact is Vern Tisdale. He will probably be able to sell you the correct one. www.verntisdale.com . Be sure to give him the amplifier number, along with the phono model (436) number. Ron Rich
