WHICH Capehart drop changer? There were 5.
Models P-2, S-30, and P-41 were made before 1941. P-51 and P-72 were made after 1946.
Models P2 and P-41 (P-44 is only cosmetically different from P-41) have two pushing shelves at opposite sides of the turntable. The spindle has a notch in one side. P-41 has extra catches that hold the record up until all weight is removed from it before dropping it.
S-30 has a split spindle and an overarm that holds the top half of the spindle. The overarm does not rest on the records. Instead, one side shelf pushes the records off. The other one has a hinged plate that keeps the records level.
P-51 has a single pusher shelf, and two rotating shelves that hold up the record until all weight is removed from it before dropping it. The spindle is a standard spindle used with a pusher shelf.
P-72 had the first successful umbrella spindle. It has no side shelves.
The side shelves of P2 look different from each other. The side shelves of P-41 look almost identical.
