Help with GE RC 4192A Console Phonograph info

by corkey2669 » Thu Apr 22, 2010 2:23 pm

Hi there. I am hoping that I can get some assistance from people who know there music and machines. I am trying to help a friend of mine with her dad’s estate and she has a GE phonograph console and I can’t seem to find any information or value of the item. Unfortunately, I do not have photos here at work but I can upload them later for more assistance. The Model number listed is RC 4192 A. The record player (phonograph) is in the middle and it has speakers built in on both sides in a maple cabinet. Again, I apologize for not having the pictures but I thought I would take a stab and see if anyone could assist me with some directions. She is eager to sell it as she has to clean out the house but wants to be sure she understand its worth. This machine works and it still has the original paper slip that covers the record player. I will forward pictures tonight. Thank you again for any help.

It looks like a 1964 vintage console, a bit beat up.... a common piece.
They're found in thrift stores for about $20.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

That is what I needed to know so I didn't spend too much time researching it. Thank you for your prompt response. Have a great day.

Hi, Matt is right about the value. Less around Central Virginia. However, recheck your model number if you don't mind. That lift up top style is early/mid 60's stuff. I might be interested in a part if you are willing to part out the console.

That record changer looks like a Glaser-Steers 3000 or 4000 with some GE custom parts on it, made before GE bought GS.
