Seeburg R side speaker grill assembly question

by Steve_B » Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:29 pm

I,m restoring a Seeburg R and noticed a difference between the two side grills with the large holes. These are the grills that go between the outer grill with the small holes and the speaker cone. One of the grills curves toward the speaker cone and one curves toward the outer grill. The grills are original and identical except for their orientation. Each is painted dark brown on the surface that faces outward. The rear surface is plated metal. I believe they were originally installed that way since the original gasket material was still in place. My question is which orientation is correct? Curved out toward grill or in toward speaker.
Thanks, Steve.

Didn't find clarification in the manual. However, I checked with a friend that is restoring an "R". He had the side speaker grills out. Upon checking the orientation, the larger grill that sits between the outside grill and the speaker cone had its curved surface facing the speaker cone, and the painted surface facing the outside grill. Can anyone else confirm.
Thanks, Steve.

Hi Steve,
If no one else chimes in--give me part #'s and page # of the Service Manual, then, maybe, I will understand enough to jog my memory--but at the moment it's blank !
