Rockola Regis not cancelling selections

by v200juke » Mon Aug 17, 2015 12:34 pm

Hello. Greetings from Australia. I recently bought a Regis and went through the typical gummed up mech problems Rockola`s have. Machine now selects and cycles fine, The problem I have is will not cancel selected pins either A or B side .Record will play then advance to next record and play fine then rotate back to home position no problem. All pins have been cleaned and free of oil , grease etc. I am guessing ( but not sure ) both cancel solenoids are fine. but do not have access to a troubleshooting guide to trace problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Mark from Oz.

Hi
I would check micro switch No. 2 which controls the resetting of the selections, microswitch could be faulty or possible connection problem

Thanks for the reply. I pulled out micro switches to check for bad wires. All good , and they are all falling into there cams at correct time. Any other ideas would be really appreciated. Mark.

Mark, there is a switch actuated by the magazine reversing switch that also toggles between A and B cancel solenoids.

If I'm not mistaken R-O still used a cable from mech chassis to the rotating arm. That cable wraps around the main shaft and can eventually break conductors internally.

Also, have a look at the service switch. It has contacts that opens the readout ckt when you are scanning to change records without cancelling any customer selections in the pin bank.

The R-O's are pretty simple and it comes down to continuity checking .

Well,
If I knew what a "Regis" was, I might be of more help--PLEASE, use model numbers here, as most manufactures used "sales" names over and over !
If you "checked" Micro Switches by just "looking" at them--see above post on checking switches, as no one can tell anything by sight (or even hearing/feeling) the click ! Ron Rich

I found the problem with this juke not cancelling. After checking all switches I went back to basics cleaning! The cancel solenoids had been GREASED and the plungers were locked / gummed up in the shaft. All good now. I thought I may as well post this to warn others not to `assume` anything is O.K. All the best, Mark.
