Rockola 426 - Write In Not Working

Hello!

I recently purchased a Rockola 426 (my second one) that was not working. I have brought some of it back to life, but it will not write in a selection. When I push a letter and number, the write in arm spins endlessly and never selects a pin. I have to shut off the jukebox to stop it. I have cleaned the contacts with Deoxit, but that didn't help. I have read the manual, but nothing appears to address this issue. I would appreciate a little help! Thanks!

Hi Paul,
I tend not to recall which system was used in which model--and also get components mixed up--that's why I always purchase a service manual for each model--Going from memory, the things I have seen cause that are a bad write-in relay, a bad contact on a plug, bad switch circuit in the keyboard (sometimes latch bar not holding last number down far enough), and--if used on the about 6 in square PCB, a black ("plastic") rather than white plug. Thanks for your quick response! I finally got a chance to tinker with the jukebox today. I looked at all the connectors, pulled them apart and sprayed them with DeOxit. I also re-cleaned the contacts on the write in assembly. Still nothing. Then I tried manually tripping the "Stop" relay while the write in arm was spinning - and it stopped and played the record. After trying this a couple more times, it started to work correctly. It works!!

Glad you have it working--I would assume--that the relay was either "stuck", or the relay contacts were "dirty"--- Ron Rich
