Bill Validator

I recently obtained a Rock ola CD Legend 7000 Juke Box. I still have my Seeburgs; 2-DS100, 2-DS 160, 1-KS200 and NSM Prestiege II with visible mechs.

The Rock ola carries on the theme of a visible mech and is a very nice Juke Box. I know some of you do or have in the past operated routes and I would think most bill validators operate in the same fashion. The only way you can make album selections is by establishing credits. To do this you need to insert money. One dollar bills work just fine. Every five dollar bill is rejected. I have cleaned all the electrical sensors per the userers manual. It still will not accept five dollar bills. I am using the old style five dollar bill.

Would appreciate any ideas you may have that would correct this situation?

That new of a jukebox (the Rockola Cd) could have had several different bill acceptors installed. What is the make and model of bill acceptor presently installed in the jukebox?

On the bill acceptor it says Ardac and has 80X1073 inscribed on it also, hope that helps.
Manual simply refers to "Ardac" with no model provided?

Pictures please.

There should be a label on the bill acceptor stating the operating voltage (120 volts AC or 24 volts AC).

Does it have a 12 pin connector, a 9 pin connector, or a 4 pin connector to plug into the jukebox harness?

You are right it should have! I can not find any info about voltage on the bill acceptor, in the parts catalog or in the operating manual?

I have included 4 pictures for you to view and you will see it is a 4 pin connector to plug into the jukebox harness.

I think that black cable should have a 12 pin and a 4 pin connector plugging into the jukebox.

You might have a USA3 or USA15 model bill acceptor. Manuals are here:

There's a possibility yours might be a model newer than the "USA" series. If so, you can send it out to Capital Vending for repair/updating:

Thanks for the help, will let you know outcome. Looked at information. Not sure it applies as it deals with Models 88X5000, 88X5001, 88X5003, 88X5005, 88X5006 and 88X5019. Apparently my Model is "80X1073" and I do not see any info on that model.

Sounds like you'll probably have to send the bill acceptor out to a repair shop like Capital Vending.

"Without having the unit here to test we can't say for sure but your problem could be caused by a number of things. The $5 software issue we've been discussing seems to be most likely. There is nothing we can do about that and unfortunately we do not have any kits for your machine that will allow you to replace that bill acceptor.

Is it possible to unbolt the bill acceptor from the machine and unplug it so you can bring it out into the light for a good look-see?

Should be just four 8-32 nuts (11/32" nutdriver to remove them) to remove that hold the bill acceptor to the machine.

Once it's off, you should be able to find more labels with a model number and operating voltage. Plus, then you can see the connector at the end of the cable where the bill acceptor plugs into the machine harness. Ardacs of that period would have had either a single white 9 pin connector or a single 12 pin white connector or two connectors: a single white 12 pin and a single white 4 pin.

Just judging by the already posted pictures, I think you have an "upstacker" style that is mounted upside down to sort of make it a downstacker style. I might be able to suggest a possible Mars model number as a replacement.

On the main board inside the Ardac is a bank of dip switches that select common operating features like which denomination of bills to accept, pulse length, and number of pulses per dollar.
