Seeburg lpc480 wont scan

by dennisvdl » Sat Sep 03, 2016 11:08 pm

Hi, I'm Dennis 29 years old, mechanical engineer.

My parents have had a very nice. Lpc480 for about as long as I can remember. However, a couple of years ago it stopped playing and after that is was sadly never repaired or used ..

Luckily I was able to talk my parents to give it to me so I could repair it and they can come listen to it in my home.

Anyway, the problem is that it won't scan when a selection is made. I followed the seeburg troubleshooting guide which told me to plug a wire in connector 1 to 13 between socket 2&1 and found that the light indicating that the motor is running does not light and so there is something wrong with the play solenoid. However I'm not sure how to proceed. I see the add solenoid moving but that's about it. How to proceed to diagnose the problem?

Hi Dennis,
Look at the TCC information shown on the silk-screen--What CODE letter is it A or B ?
Do you have the Service Manual for it ? If so, the AC motor wiring is shown in detail near the front of the manual. If not, it is available from any of the listed suppliers above in this section (since you are in Germany, I suggest you contact: stamann@jukebox-world.de). Ron Rich

Hi Ron thanks for your reply

I think there's a B on there.

I have a wiring diagram but it's a bad copy and hard to read the text.

a link to a picture of the TCC1 in the link below:

Hi Dennis,
Yes--I can see the "B"-- Which eliminates a common AC problem with the CODE A units.
Like I said, I guess you will need to purchase the manual--and my advise is to purchase a "manual package", which should include an "Information & Operation Manual" for your EXACT model, as stated on the ID tag on the cabinet. A Parts manual should also be part of the "package".
Once obtained you will need to follow the wiring diagram for that model's AC going to the motor--it is somewhat more complicated, in that model, then most Seeburgs. I also might humbly suggest that my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" would be of general help, if you are not familiar with the Seeburg mechanism operation. Ron Rich
