Rockola 1426 rewiring power cord

Hi guys. This is on a rockola 1426. A couple of
Basic questions first.

1) would it be safe to just replace the 2 prong original
Cord with a new one?

2) or if better to change to a 3 prong cord is there any
Special requirements other than making sure the ground
Wire is making good contact to power distribution chassis?

Just curious if this changes anything farther down the line
Such as in the amp? ( resistors, capacitors, tubes etc.)

Hi George,
My OPINION is, just use a quality 16/2, 6 foot long, "power tool" replacement cord. Be sure the "hot" (black wire) is wired to the on/off switch.
Adding the 3 wire type cord, to any item not originally supplied with one, invalidates the UL listing, and can cause problems with your insurance, if they catch you, say like---after a fire---- ???

I decided to write here, to not create a new topic.
My question is this:
I noticed that all my juke this electrified and I checked with a tester, as shown in the video.
I even received small shocks.
Is this normal?
Can a wire be causing trouble?

Yes--you do have a problem there that should be fixed !
I can't tell which "power cord" you have on that phono, nor do I know the electrical code there. I would strongly advise that you speak to a local electrician who knows the code there, and re-wire it to conform to code. If I were to re-wire it to code here, it would require a two wire molded polarized power cord. Hot wold be the black wire, and would be opened by the switch. Neutral would be the white wire "common".
I would also recommend a Ground Fault Interrupt Circuit (GFIC) wall socket be used ! If a GFIC won't "hold", with it properly wired, you will need to delve into the phono, to find/fix, the leak. Ron Rich
