Seeburg SC1 wallbox

by clones » Sat Apr 18, 2015 1:12 am

Hi
Have a seeburg sc1 wallbox hooked up to a wipod set up. The wallbox has a US slug rejector in it and gave 2 credits for a quarter, i had a go at adjusting the number of credits per quarter, Initially i removed the blades switches and contact pins and changed their position, left the jumper wires as is and adjusted substract plate from position 2 to 1. Now i have the following ... seem to have unlimted credits like its on freeplay, if i turn the ratchets clockwise which is supposed to cancel the credits it seems to do the opposite, i have the manual on it but its the most complicated credit system i have seen, anyway its not a major issue but its just bugging me whats causing this apart from what I did myself

Hi Clones,
It's been a number of years since I changed pricing on one of those( or even seen one !)--but it seems to me that if you removed the APU, you could re-install it incorrectly, so it acted similar to what you describe--also, if my memory is correct, I think that the subtract function is carried on using a slip-clutch--and it's possible it is slipping too much ? Ron, Clones, credit on those is established electrically but deducted mechanically via a lever that follows a lobe on the gear motor cam.

IIRC the motor must be at a certain midpoint before the credit module is reattached in order for the cam lever to engage the spring loaded ratchet on the credit module.

I haven't removed one of these in over 20 years so I may be forgetting a step. I suggest removing the credit mod and turning the gear motor to observe how it engages.

Hi Rob,
I waz thinkin' that the lever just "moved out of the way", which allowed the spring to push/pull (?) the subtract arm in ??
I seem to recall some that would not cancel credit(s), because one of your Geppetto friends had put grease all over and it had become gummy---

Hi
Just to let ye know i got it sorted out, what i was doing wrong was moving and putting back the contact pins before removing credits by turning the credit cogs clockwise, what should be done is to remove the pins, remove any credits and then put the contact pins back in place. By doing it the wrong way like i did initially it esentially was on free play although with something that old i don't like to keep on constant free play.s?
Althought In the manual it says to remove and change the pin position and then zero the credit???
