Dual 1006 off of ebay

I just acquired a nice Dual 1006 off of ebay. Most of the rubber parts are there (all the idlers). It needs a new drop spindle and the rubber is gone from the wheels in the tonearm.

Anyway, it is a nice unit. I managed to get it to play at 33 (sounded more like 28rpm). The Shure M7D sounded excellent.

I am going to try to clean up the idlers and see if I can get the mechanism lubed so it will run automatically again.

Record-Changer, do you have any experience with 1006's. What do I need to watch out for so I don't totally break the thing?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Once I get it running good, I will post videos of it on Youtube.

P.S. Record-changer, your site is AWESOME!

I have two of them, and all of the rubber is gone from both. They used real rubber, which does not last that long.

Things to watch out for:

- A separate drive wheel runs the turntable during the change cycle.

- The tonearm does not lift up. This is necessary for the feeler wheels to work.

- If the machine repeats the last record, put some grease on the vertically sliding pin on the cam. It needs the viscosity to work.

- Make sure the rubber pads are present in the spindle before loading a stack. Otherwise, all of the records will drop at once.

- Don't trust the stylus force gage provided.

- Don't try to play soundsheets automatically.
