HF100G - power wiring and plugs

by Arthur Dent » Thu Oct 01, 2015 12:02 am

I just got back my HF100G and am dealing with an issue of it not playing that was apparently caused during transportation back home. That saga is in another thread here. :)

But, I am curious about your thoughts on something that I am not happy with about its restoration...the interior wiring for power.

A basic extension cord was used for the main power. Something similar to this: Image

Another one is used on the inside for the accessory lighting. I do not really like the look of them at all. Plus, the cords are just lying on the bottom of the cabinet, which means they tend to pool on the ventilation grate.

I would assume that the main power cord for this was some sore of cloth covered cable. Something maybe like this: Image

Maybe it was more of a plain brown, and the pattern is just my wishful thinking, but it would be better than the cable used. :)

So, I am wondering if anyone has pictures of the interior of the cabinet that shows cable routing and the type of cables and plugs/receptacles used? Or if you just remember what the cables looked like, color, pattern, etc. I really want to make this thing as accurate as possible, not only on the outside, but the inside as well.

Thanks,
-Jeff

Arthur, it was just a black rubber two wire plug that goes to an Academy (brand) two plug surface mount outlet. This is the sort of outlet people used to run along their baseboard,

It was mounted on the side wall right near the ballasts, you can probably find the two screw holes.

One, or two of my 201s still have them in place but with a three wire cord that grounds the chassis.
