Question about Silvertone 7080

I recently purchase a Silvertone 7080 phonograph. I had a few questions since I want to rebuild the phonograph from the ground up. The tonearm has the cartridge but no needle. what type of needle can I install? The wiring is abit brittle. Where can i purchase cloth wire? Where can i go to verify the tubes are working. I remember the old days with the tube testers and all. Most people think I'm crazy but i always like a good challenge. Thanks for all your help.

I should add the phono cartridge is an Astatic 637 - I think it is ceramic.
