DeoxIT

Hey Folks,

Getting ready to order a few things. Is it redundant (for lack of a better term) to get DeoxIT Contact Cleaner and DeoxIT FaderLube? They both provide a light 5% coating. The lube seems to restore lubricant lost from using OTHER cleaners, and maybe not used as a complement to using the original DeoxIT contact cleaner. Maybe I just answered my own question. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! --BB

I have dis-continued using it, as I have found that CRC 26 (or maybe it's 126) sold by the Home Depot is just as good, at a fraction of the cost, on anything that "slides", and should remain "lubricated". Ron Rich

I agree with Ron. For the price I could not see any difference though some swear by it.

One small caution about any "chemicals", spray or otherwise. Several years ago I was using a "plastic-safe, safety solvent", spray can, that I had used for years. I opened a new can and "sprayed away". Well it "fixed my problem OK", and I oiled the machine and left. By the time I got home ( about an hour), the customer was on the phone complaining that I had "melted all of her records". I went back the next day, and sure enough, the records were melted ! So, I looked at the solvent can, and saw that they had dropped the words "Plastic safe" from the label. Fortunately, I still had the old empty can in my truck, and I showed it to her, and offered to pay for any records she could replace--she was kind to me, and spent what I thought was a very reasonable amount.
Since then--I L@@K at each can, as I purchase it ! Ron Rich

I agree with Ron and I tend not to use spays or cleaning solvents were I can. I would rather strip down the part and clean it up using less drastic measures.
