Wurlitzer Americana I - Record only plays for a millisecond

by slicegill » Fri Jul 19, 2013 12:55 pm

Hello,
I'm hoping someone might be able to provide an answer or direct me in the right direction.
I have a 1966 Wurlitzer Americana I jukebox that has worked fine. All of a sudden it now will only do the following: The jukebox is about to play the proper record but just as soon as the arm drops the needle, it immediately acts as if it has played the whole song and then lifts up and puts the record back and moves to the next selection and does the same thing all over again.

I have the original manual but can't really figure out the issue and I'm afraid of tearing into it too make any adjustments thinking it's an easy fix and don't want to make things worse.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Well, number 1, I have no idea which model an "Americana 1" is--please ID it by it's model number--
My thoughts are that one of the Reject switches is stuck closed--no "adjustments" are required in this case. Just meter all switches, and see if mechanically "stuck", or electrically stuck. Repair mechanical bind. Replace switch if electrical, at which point, adjustments may be required as specified in the Service Manual. Ron Rich

Ron,
Thank you. I was able to locate where it was stuck and got it unstuck. Took me a minute.
Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it.
