Hi Ron,
What lubrication is used in the original color wheel motor gear box and how much to add? It would hardly turn at all, even by hand, before I disassembled and cleaned it. The lube that was in there was black and thick. Shafts were all gummed up.
Also, I found a small flat washer in the bottom of the gear box after removing the worm shaft and all the gunk. Should that go on the end of the worm shaft where it enters the lower bearing?
Finally, there is a metal bracket that goes across the top of the motor rotor. There is a small gap between this bracket and the top of the rotor shaft. The underside of the bracket shows a wear mark from contact with the shaft tip. This was observed before disassembly so nothing was lost. Normally I might have expected a ball bearing to be between the bracket and the shaft. So is the fact that there is a gap between the bracket and the shaft normal? If the worm shaft has a downward thrust when rotating I don't understand how an upward wear mark is formed in the bracket.
Looking forward to your comments on these three issues.
Thanks for your continued help,
Steve.
