CD-8 Bubbler

by Idaholady » Sun May 06, 2007 12:29 am

This is the first time I've been on this site. I have a new (3yrs. old), Rock-ola jukebox. For the first two years, it was played 14 hours a day, but all at once, it quit spinning the CD. I sent just the player down to California to the factory and the technician sent it back, saying that there was nothing wrong with the player. He did put a new harness on. We installed the player in, and have adjusted it. It played a few Cd's, then quit spinning again. It picks the cd up, puts it on and then the arm picks it back up and puts it in the magazine. We have adjusted it, taking great care to do it slowly, but it still won't play. I have tried to find someone to work on it for me, but have had no luck!! The people that I have talked to about it only will work on the vintage jukeboxes, not the computerized ones. I am at a lost at who I can find to look at this. I think that this is probably a message board for the vintages jukeboxes, but was hoping that somebody would have an idea on which direction I could go. Oh, we have the manuel and have tried every troubleshooting suggestion. Such as, making sure the lazer is clean, positioning the player, cleaning all of the cd's and adjusting the screw for the magnet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

R/O CD juke

Try the following--check the service manual and try "re-mapping" all of the discs. If that fails, find the instructions on "de-faulting" the computer. You will then need to re-set such things as free play--and re-map all the discs again. Ron Rich

Rich,
Thanks so much for the suggestion. Will try to default the computer and then try mapping, again. Karen

Rich,
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I don't know why we didn't think of resetting the computer. It makes perfect sense!! I am now listening to my jukebox as I write. Sometimes, you need some input from somebody new. Karen

Hi Again Rich,
Okay, we had the jukebox up and running for a week, but yesterday had to have an electrician out to put in a new circuit. We live in an old house, and the wiring is such that we had the TV, dishwasher, microwave, and some lights all on one. You have to leave the lightswith on all of the time for these things to work. Anyway, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but last night, when I turned the jukebox on, I had lost all of the mapping. We tried to go through all of the diagnostics and no errors are coming up, but it just won't spin the CD's to map them. When the electrician was working, I had the jukebox off, but of course, the lightswitch was on, as always. We can't figure out how to default the computer. Any more suggestions?? Everything seems to be working, except it just won't map or spin. Thanks for any help, Karen

CD-8 Bubbler Rock-ola Jukebox

by Idaholady » Sun May 13, 2007 1:31 am

Rich,

IdahoLady's frustrated hubbie here. I cannot find anywhere in the manuel about how to "default" the computer. When I got it working the other day, basically I was fooling around, adjusting the clamping plate and all of a sudden the discs started spinning....and mapping.

I've gone back and done that again, but to no avail. I'm obviously electronically challenged, but I guess my 2 main questions are:

1) How to default the CPU?
2) Could when the electrician did the work my wife described, could he have changed the polarity?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I've run a lot of the diagnostic tests, and I'm not finding anything amiss there.

When the electrician put in the new circuit, he had to shut off all of the power in the entire house. If the jukebox was on when he did that, it could have zxnrbled the contents of the memory.
