MAGNAVOX HELP

Hi I just picked up a Magnavox astrosonic model 1st684 really good shape.. how do you adjust the turntable as in pressure and also when I start it it will go halfway out and shut itself off ? but other than that it works fine there is some skipping from time to time ..this couldnt be normal ..does any of this sound familiar ..Thanks

I answered part of this in your other post. A record must be up on the changer spindle for the changer to play it automatically. It feels the record size by touching the unplayed stack with the feeler tip on the pickup arm. If no record is up on the spindle, it shuts off.

Yeah, gotta have a record on, if it doesn't "feel" a record is there it will shut off like it supposed to.

To answer your question on the pressure adjustment, the Astrosonic I have (the 1967 model with the all silver plastic tone arm) has a stylus pressure adjustment . If you feel and look around the very back of the tone arm where the arm attaches to the base, there is a piece that you can rotate with your finger clockwise and counter-clockwise. If I remember correctly, clockwise makes the arm heavier and counter-clockwise makes it lighter in weight. However, these mechanisms were pre-set from the factory to proper specifications and usually don't need adjusting.
