HMV 153

Yes, it is an HMV 153 from 1936 (ish) or to quote Christopher Proudfoot:
a sad swansong for the HMV cabinet gramophone


I'd go even further and say it was a travesty!

Think HMV 157 horn (the smallest and most feeble of the earlier proper full cabinet sized internal horned machines) repackaged in a pseudo modern radio-gram styled cabinet.

I actually bought an example some years ago in an auction for
I used to be looking for things but now I've found them I don't look at them!
