Seeburgh 100G Loud popping sound

Hi. I wonder you guys can help me ? I have a really nice 100G which I love. However when I play a record I get this really loud popping sound ,like there is a massive scratch on the record noise if that makes sense. It doesn't happen all through the play ,just a couple of times a record but it is loud. I play the record on my old 60 's Dansette record player and there is no problem. I hope you can help as it cold and wet in England at the moment and I would like to play some records.

It varies usually once the the record is into the the first verse and at least once more before the end of the play,

That description usually indicates an internal amplifier problem--
One other thing I have seen cause this type problem--look under the mechanism cover--look at the terminals the motor wires are soldered to--IF, there still is a small cap, on the two left terminals, just clip both leads at the solder terminals (POWER OFF ), . One other thing you might want to test, just to be sure- play any selection--prop the tone arm off the record, remove the input plug to the amp, and see if it still pops--if so, it is an internal amp problem, for sure. If not, it's in the mechanism wiring, somewhere---

In addition to Ron's suggestions;

-Remove the 6SK7 tube and see if 'pop" still occur. this is the AGC reactance tube and faults can cause noise such as hum and thumps.

-What pickup do you have in this machine? If it is one of the later ones that use green or yellow styli, make sure that both halves of the outer shield on the pickup are connected to the shield on the pickup cable. If one side is not connected static electricity will build up, especially with clean vinyl records and produce a loud snap when it discharges across the two halves.

I must say I am really impressed with you guys as I am getting advice so quickly. I am new to jukebox ownership and slightly color blind so I will try and answer as best as I can, the styli are green (I thought they were blue) and they are the late type that supposedly does not destroy the vinyl and can be used on stereo records. When I fitted them they seemed quite stiff to fully locate them, if I did not push them in fully then I had no volume. I am in the Netherlands at the moment at work and will not be able to do any of your and Ron's suggestions until next week when I can report back. Thanks again. Andy
