I am not real familiar with RO's, but I think you are on the right track. If the pin assembly is not correct, it seems that one would encounter the mag motor running all the time. There is a "carry over", slip ring on it, that has an "open position" at the point that the motor should stop--if the Microswitch (up top) is released. As for the gripper problem--I don't quite understand what you are attempting to say--BUT, do NOT allow that hammer coil to remain powered for any length of time, as you WILL burn it up, and they are getting hard to find. (It is energized via a Microswitch on the gripper cam).
