Wurlitzer 256 Stepper

by Gordo » Mon Sep 26, 2011 3:09 am

Hi,

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a Wurlitzer 256 stepper?

I have a very basic schematic, however it only shows 1 capacitor whereas the stepper has 3.

Any help appreciated

Gordo..........

Hi Ron,

Bill was very helpful and provided what he had, unfortunately it is only a basic schematic and does not include all electrical components.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks

Gordo,
Do you know what the difference(s) are between a 256 and a 257--I think I know someone with "paperwork" for the 257, and MAYBE I can convince him to copy it for you--if it would help--- Ron Rich

I doubt there is more availbale than the "basic" diagaram. All Wurlitzer stepper schematics from that era are like that.
Stepper 256 is needed for use with Seeburg wallboxes 3W1 and Wurlitzer 1700 or 1500 series jukeboxes.
Stepper 257 is needed to operate Wurlitzer models 1700, 1800, 1900 and Wurlitzer wallboxes 5204A, 5205, and 5207.

Is it for sure a 256 stepper? Mechanically it is the same like 253 (Wurlitzer 1500 series and wallbox 5204A).
Schematic 257 shows three capacitors - 2x .5µF and 1x 1000 µF/50 Volt.

Kind regards - Hildegard

Hi All,

On the 'installation paperwork' I have (with the 256 stepper) it says to refer to 'Mechanical operation of the Model 256 Stepper is like that of the Model 253'.

I have managed to get the 253 stepper manual this afternoon (via download) and it does looks very similar (also looks like the 257). In fact it has the same capacitors mentioned above.

So, I think I have progress now. So I can get the caps and see how it goes.

Thanks everyone for your time and support.

Very much appreciated

Regards

Gordo........
