Stereo balance

by wingnut049 » Thu Mar 12, 2015 4:17 pm

Another question regarding the 2504. This is my first Wurlitzer and stereo jukebox. Seems that the balance is totally out of wack. I've played with the balance knob but it seems like the left channel (looking at the box from the front) is extremely weak and the right has all the sound. Could this be a tube issue? If so which one so I can replace it. Thanks in advance.

As in ALL amps, It "could be" a tube problem--since it is a stereo amp, the easy way to tell, is to swap tubes, one at a time from side to side.
IMHO, it is more likely to be failing components somewhere inside the am itself--but one never knows--??

I was told by the previous owner that the amp was rebuilt (don't know to what extent) and he didn't know when. The caps look new. The tubes don't but it could be dust. I hit the cabinet and glass with Windex which took alot of crud off the box.

Whut kin I say---What extent, and when, as well as, who, rebuilt it, are very important un-answered questions, IMHO !
One note of caution--be careful in swapping the tubes on the printed circuit board, as those boards are easy to damage !
