WurliTzer 2800 Free Play

by Las Vegas Jukebox » Tue Jun 04, 2013 2:39 am

I have just got finished re-setting all the selection unit on my Wurly 2800 - according to the manual.

Everything seems to be working fine now, but it appears that the jukebox is in "free play", which may not be a bad thing, but I want to know how to set it back to its original state.

I can put coins in and credits are added, as they should. I can press the credit button inside the selector unit and a credit is added, as it should. When I make a selection credits are subtracted, as they should. However, if I press a "letter" key with no credit, the jukebox operates as if a credit has been added - the "Select" light comes on and the buttons latch (this is only with the "letter" keys, not the "numbers").

I don't know if there is a "common" way that the 2800's are set to free play, but any ideas would be welcome.

Keith,
It would be my guess, that someone has run a wire from the buttons to the free play switch on the keyboard--this is not a "normal" situation, and as such, should be easy to spot----

Thanks Ron,

That was my initial thought also, but I can't see anything. I checked the wires on the free-play switch with the wiring diagram and they are correct - no extras. I can't see any extra wires on the back of the letter keys either.

It doesn't matter. The jukebox is working perfectly since I readjusted everything, so it can stay as free-play. You still have to deposit a half-dollar to use the Golden Bar button.

Thanks again for your help.

PS - why am I no longer receiving emails for replies to threads I am subscribed to?
