Seeburg V200 not selecting records

Hi People, It's about My V200. Both the Juke Box & Wall Box were just working fine for approx.1-hr.. Then both failed to make any selection. After several attempts today, I shut it down . Preston , Syracuse NY.

Preston, the first thing is to determine where the failure has taken place. Whether it is Write-in or Read-out. If the machine fails to play from either keyboard or stepper, it can be either.

First, try the battery test. If the machine trips when the Toroids are flipped by the battery, the problem is in the Write-in circuits.

If this machine is still using 2D21 tubes check those first, they are the common failure points.

If it does NOT pick records using the battery trick, swap the "read-out" tube with any of the others, and see if that makes the batt trick work--if so, the tube you swapped is bad-- Ron Rich

Ron, it sounds like that machine is converted to TSR3.

So Preston, here are the W-I and R-O simplifieds;

As Ron suggests, try a known good tube, in this case a 2050, try a 12AX7 too.

BTW: What was rebuilt here?

Yep, you are right. For some boneheaded reason input-ed a "not" into his description.

I never understood why Seeburg went so far overboard with thyratrons in that model. It was so simple and obvious that direct switching would be easier and more reliable.

FWIW: The old boilers in both my grade school (1953) and my apt house used 2D21s in the Fireye controller. they seemed reliable. When I got my first V, the super gave me some of those tubes for it.

Glad you got it as I do not EVER want to go back to Syracuse--last time I was there in 1969, I got VERY ill, and wound up in the hospital--
