Seeburg 100 Identification and Repair

by Ozzie » Thu Dec 29, 2011 12:07 am

Hello,

I have had this jukebox for about 20 years and it has been pretty reliable but now I am having some problems with it. To start I would like to identify it as I have never been sure of the exact model and year. I can't find a serial number on it and suspect that it may be a bit of a Frankenstein unit. I am hoping that someone can help from the attached photos. If any additional pictures are needed I can do that.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Ozzie

Hi Ozzie,
What you have there is a "Johnny Cash Special" ( One Piece at a Time) !
The cabinet appears to be a model "B", or "BL", with an aftermarket grill area. The mechanism is from a model "C", with the trim removed. The mech cover is from a much later model. The cartridge is an aftermarket type.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your reply. That is what i figured, in fact I think I was told this years ago. I didn't include photos of the rear but it is obvious that the amp is not original either.
This unit has always been set up for free play and as I said worked quite reliably for years. Now, the selection buttons don't seem to be working and the player never travels back and forth, even when I use the manual switch inside the case. Again any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again, Ozzie

Ozzie,
A service manual would help greatly-- then I. or someone else, might be able to determine what you are talking about, much easier---
See above "announcements--where to find--" Ron Rich

This looks like a mid 60s WICO restyling kit to me:

Ron,

Would your Seeburg Mechanism Guide be the right book for me to get and help me with the correct terminology?

Thanks, Ozzie

Hi Ozzie,
You need the Seeburg Service Manual, as I wrote the Mechanism Guide as a supplement. I attempted to cover what the original manuals missed, with the assumption that my reader had a copy of, and had read, the correct manual for his model. I more or less "glanced over" what is contained in the Seeburg manuals, as I did not want to repeat --and to keep the price down---- If you wish to purchase a copy, please PM me. Ron Rich

Ron,

I am trying to find the manual I got when I bought the box 20 years ago. If I can't locate it i'll get another one and go from there. I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge with everyone on here.
