Now Enjoying the Magnavox of my dreams

Nice to meet you Steve. Actually our whole house is being remodeled right now, and the electrical in the room the stereo is in has been disconnected. So the stereo isn't even being used right now. I appreciate everyones input. However, I do think Matt's was a little harsh. After he gave his piece I contacted a local shop that deals with nothing but tube amps, and they told me everything was fine. I continued to use it until we started our renovations and had no problems. Thus, I've had no problems with any tube set I have ever owned. Before our remodeling job is complete, I am going to get the restoration done, and even have the cabinet professionally refinished. Last time I checked, I don't think thats neglect.

I understand this unit is 50 years old, and the parts in it are aging, however If the amp and tuner/chasis are too expensive to repair, I could always go on ebay and look for replacement parts that have ALREADY been restored. No one is saying that I HAVE to keep the original parts if the old ones are fried. Thats why they invented ebay.

I know these professional restorers have to make money, and have to make a living. that I understand. But It's costing me over $600.00 to repair a turntable that really had nothing wrong with it except needing a new cartridge and needle. I know Matt-Tech is a highly reputable restorer and knows what he's doing. But I don't think scaring people out of their wits is any way to get business done. My 90 year old great Aunt still uses her 1959 RCA Victrola(Regularly) every week. and has never needed to be repaired, and also has been in a smoke free house for 50 some years.

Right now I am using my other Magnavox, my 1967 Astro-Sonic which is also in great shape. I also had that set gone over, and that one is also one. Once I get my 1960 Imperial Maggie restored, I don't want to hear it anymore. like I said, it's costing me $600.00 for the turntable alone. That is Ridiculous! I have no money. people these days are unbelieve. I am done responding to anymore posts on this ad, because I don't want to hear it from anybody anymore. I've had it up to here already. I'm getting my stereo restored and I'm not currently using it at the moment. I know thats what you all want to hear, so lets put an end to it ok?
