Sonata

Hi,

Does anyone have a schematic or manual for the Sonata 5500 jukebox?

These are usually referred to as the 1050, and very similar to the WurliTzer 1050. The schematic from the WurliTzer may even be the same if someone has one of those.

The 3700 WurliTzer schematics were furnished with the WurliTzer made units. I don't believe "Sonata" published any--

Depends on when it was produced--started out 99% WurliTzer, and they "added", more, and more, Mexican made parts, as they ran out of the US made items--real "quirky" on some production runs !! Ron Rich

I have the serial number, but I guess there isn't enough info out there to know if it is an early or late one from that?

I would not know--perhaps someone else might ??
One "clue" is the type of coil/solenoid used to stop the basket. They apparently ran out of them fairly early and installed a round coil/plunger sub. Also, instead of a CB, a fuse post was installed near that solenoid--
Also, I'm tolt--but never have seen it, that the very early ones have the 555 BO/AC installed in them--later ones( I've seen) have a "RockOla" type, credit unit installed--a very POOR copy--made from very soft metal--warps/bends--

This one has a square shaped plunger in the solenoid at the front right corner which stops the carousel. I couldn't see any fuse post nearby, or circuit board.
The reason I want the schematic is because the jukebox keeps blowing the 8 amp AC fuse on the relay panel, or whatever that thing is called with the relays and 28v circuit breakers. Distribution panel, perhaps?

"CB" was for "circuit breaker"--
Might try installing a smaller fuse (6-7 A), with everything but power un-pluged--then plug things in one, at a time till fuse blows--at least you can pin down "where" the short izzzz---
